Located near downtown Oklahoma City, the James E. Stewart Golf Course is one of Oklahoma’s best 9-hole golf courses. After a comprehensive planning process, MILES designed the new clubhouse to be sited on the north edge of Douglas Park to offer a panoramic view of the course and optimum sun profiles. The clubhouse design is intended to encourage growth in the number of new golfers, especially among the youth of Oklahoma City’s northeast communities.

At 6,800 square feet, the new clubhouse offers a pro shop, locker room facilities, and an excellent full-service kitchen and dining area. Staff offices and a control counter are centrally located to provide efficient functioning and an overview of facility operations at the golf course. The building features high, open public spaces with utilitarian, but pleasing finishes. An additional 800-square-foot shaded dining patio is located adjacent to the golf cart pick-up and drop-off area.

The building’s standing-seam metal roof is supported by exposed laminated-wood beams and exposed wood-plank ceilings. The expansive glass curtainwalls are also framed with laminated wood, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
