In an effort to provide the most advanced cardiac care to their patients, the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health engaged MILES to design and manage a highly technical, two-phased renovation of their existing 3rd Floor CATH-EP laboratory. The result is the only state-of-the-art hybrid suite in Oklahoma to offer a diverse range of interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiovascular surgical services for infants, children, and adults with simple to complex congenital heart defects and disease; all within a single care setting.
Phase I involved the design and addition of a new hybrid Cath-EP Class 3 Imaging Suite featuring a next-generation biplane image-guided therapy system equipped to provide low-dose x-ray exposure while providing superior image quality. The system is integrated with an impressive array of state-of-the-art operating room equipment as well as data and image integration software, ambient lighting, and patient-focused AV enhancements for calming and relaxation. Specialized anesthesia, hemodynamic, electrophysiology, cardiac mapping, cardiac ablation, cardiac perfusion, cardiovascular ultrasound, and cardiovascular surgical systems allow staff to safely convert from minimally invasive to open procedures to address immediate patient concerns within a surgical environment, eliminating the need to be transported to an OR during an emergency. Phase II involved the creation of a new perioperative waiting area, information desk, and public restrooms designed to current FGI Hospital, 2018 guidelines for spatial requirements.
